Ghana to strengthen ties with its neighbours

Ouahigouya (Burkina Faso), Dec 14, GNA – Ghana would strengthen relationship with neighbouring countries by establishing sister city relations with them, Mr Mac Adams Banda, Wa Municipal Chief Executive, has said. He said although the people of the sub-region were divided by the colonial masters it was incumbent on the leaders of the various countries to re-assess themselves, close their ranks and strategize for development.

Mr Banda said this when he called on Mr Yameogo Dieudonne Marie, Governor of the Yatenga province of Burkina Faso as part of his four-day visit to the city. He said areas they could collaborate in included agriculture, environment and cultural activities. Mr Banda called for flexible cross-border rules that would facilitate the movement of people and goods without harassment and intimidations. He also paid courtesy calls on Naaba Kilba, King of the Yatenga province, attended the 45th Anniversary celebration of Burkina Faso and the dry season gardens at Ouahigouya and the central market of the city.

Mr Yameogo Dieudonne, the Governor of the city, said Ghana was advanced in democracy and good governance that they could learn from. Mr Banda also signed a memorandum of understanding with the mayor of Ouahigouya to cooperate in culture and agriculture.
