Ghana to import maize if armyworm is not controlled – Dagbon Regent

The Regent of Dagbon Kampakuya Na Yakubu Abdulai Andani says Ghana may be forced to buy maize from Burkina Faso if the fall army worm infestation is not addressed.

He said the rate at which the pest is spreading is alarming, and should be the concern of every Ghanaian.

The Kampakuya Na was speaking during a courtesy call on him by the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is on a three day official visit to the northern region.

The Fall Army worm last year destroyed over one thousand acres of maize in the Northern Region.

The Kampakuya Na has therefore appealed to government to support farmers to deal with the pest before it causes food shortages in the country.
