Ghana to host African Insurance Organization conference

Accra, Nov. 8, GNA – The Ghana Insurers Association (GIA) is to play host to the African Insurance Organization (AIO) 2009 Life Conference in Accra

The event which takes place at the La Palm Royal beach Hotel from November 11 through the 14 is under the theme: “Gateway to Africa”. A statement issued by the GIA on Sunday in Accra said the conference would deliberate on topical issues affecting life insurance in Africa. It said that authorities in the business environment who would be addressing the three-day conference include Mr Ken Ofori Atta, Execuitve Chairman, Data Bank Financial services, Mr Leonard Diop Frimpong, Chief Executive Officer of Metlife Insurance Company and Professor Stephen Adei, immediate past rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration.

Other speakers from Nigeria, South Africa, Mauritius and Zimbabwe will feature prominently at the conference.

Established in 1972 with its headquarters in Cameroon, the AIO currently has member in more than 46 countries in Africa and associate international members from five countries outside Africa. Its main objectives are the promotion of inter Africa co-operation and development of a healthy insurance and re-insurance industry in Africa.. The 2008 edition of the conference was held in Livingstone, Zambia. Nigeria would host that of 2010. 8 Nov 09
