Ghana to have total electricity access in 2020- Buah

Accra, June 10, GNA – Ghana will hit a universal electricity access by 2020 says Mr Emmanuel Buah, Deputy Minister of Energy on Friday. “In the pursuance of this objective the Energy Ministry continuous to work assiduously with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning to secure funding,” he said.

Mr Buah was answering a question on the Floor of Parliament, posed by Mr Stephen Amoanor, Upper Manya Member Parliament.

Mr Amoanor asked the minister when the Rural Electrification Project would be extended to the rest of the Upper Manya constituency.

Mr Buah, National Democratic Congress member for Ellembele said the eight communities in the Manya Krobo Constituency were part of the on-going Self-Help Electrification Project (4) rural electrification programme being implemented by the China International Water and Electric Corporation under $170 million Suppliers Credit facility.

The communities he said included Dzomoa, Dzakane, Dawa, Akorkorma Sisi, Akorkorma Kpeti, Sisiaman Yiti, Akanteng and Timersu.

He said all works including customer care was completed in December 2010.
