Ghana’s 45,000 barrel-per-day Tema oil refinery (TOR) will restart production on Friday after a two-week shutdown caused by problems buying feedstock
“Production has stalled in the past two weeks because there was confusion among them … it’s about letters of credit to enable us pay for the consignment,” the source said, adding that a shipment of 1.2 million barrels of crude oil had arrived in late December.
The state run plant, Ghana’s sole refinery, has been struggling with credit problems since 2009 after amassing a large debt, triggering repeated shutdowns and run cuts.
