Ghana Telecom gets Eastern Region Ladies Chapter

Koforidua, April 2, GNA – The Eastern Regional Minister, Ms Patience Adow, has asked the staff of Ghana Telecom Company Limited to change their attitude to work to make the company a leading telecommunication provider in the country.

She said the biggest challenge facing Ghana Telecom was its inability to meet customer demands. Miss Adow was inaugurating the Eastern Regional Chapter of Ghana Telecom Ladies Association in Koforidua on Friday.

The association’s ceremonial cloth was also launched at the ceremony. She commended the company for increasing its customer base in the region since 1997 by expanding and modernising its network.

She, however, cautioned that the objectives of the company to provide fibre optic cables to corporate customers and the introduction of new services such as contrex, fastnet and video conferencing this year could not have been attained without a dedicated staff.

Ms Adow also appealed to GHATELS to donate towards education endowment funds to offer bursaries to brilliant but needy schoolgirls. The General Manager of Ghana Telecom in charge of Human Resource, Mr Emmanuel Dziko, noted that one of the main problems facing the company was how to make its staff more productive.

The Eastern Regional Head, Mr Paul Amuzu, urged members of the association to be receptive to new ideas by being creative, innovative and proactive. The Eastern Regional President of GHATELS, Mrs Victoria Hulletey, called on the members to evolve a new culture of work ethic to achieve the set goals of the company.
