Ghana Science Association assist science education

Accra, May 11, GNA – The Ghana Science Association (GSA) on Friday presented science textbooks worth 15 million cedis to the Ghana Education Service to be distributed to deprived schools in the country. The books made up of 900 copies of Every Day Science were to save the Education Service the problem of inadequate science materials and encourage science education in the country.

Dr. Franklin Manu Amoah, National President (GSA), who presented the items said, “we as Ghanaians should not forget to prompt attention to the fact that investment in science was indeed an essential part of human resource development and an endless and sustainable resource with extra ordinary dividends.”

He said no country could forge ahead in development without requisite attention paid to her science and technology base system. He said students at all level of education should be encouraged to take up science seriously, adding that it was important for government and the Education Service do everything possible to sustain their interests by assisting them.

Mr. Samuel Bannerman-Mensah, Director General of Ghana Education Service, who received the items thanked the Association, saying the teaching of science would be intensified and maintained to enhance the quality of science education in the country.
