Ghana Prisons Service appeals for buses

Director of Prisons in charge of Technical Services at the Prisons Headquarters, Leopold Ansah, says the dilapidated nature of the country’s prisons coupled with lack of transport and other facilities are a major setback to the operations of the Prisons Service.

He said the situation sometimes compels them to hire commercial transport to convey prisoners to and from the courts, a situation he described as detrimental to the effective transformation of prisoners.

DOP Ansah said this when the MP for La Dade-Kotopon, Vincent Odotei Sowah, presented a multi-purpose printer to the Prisons Headquarters in Accra.

DOP Ansah reminded Ghanaians that the prisons are not places for a selected few and appealed to philanthropists to support government in providing them with the needed facilities for their smooth operation.
