The head coach of Nations Football Club, Kassim Ocansey Mingle, has described his side’s upcoming fixture against Basake Holy Stars as a “make-or-break” moment in their quest for the Ghana Premier League title.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s game at Ayinase, Mingle didn’t mince words about the magnitude of the challenge, labelling it the fixture that could define their season.
“It’s not going to be easy,” he said. “It’s a match that will decide our destiny, that either we win the league or not. That match will decide the fate of us.”
Nations FC currently sit top of the table with 60 points, holding a slender three-point lead over Bibiani Gold Stars. The title race remains wide open with just two matches left in the 2024–2025 season.
Sunday’s match carries high stakes for both sides. While Nations are chasing a historic league triumph, Basake Holy Stars are desperately fighting to avoid relegation, setting the stage for a high-pressure encounter at 15:00 GMT.
“Basake will come with everything, they’re playing for survival,” Mingle added. “But we are also playing for glory. We have prepared for a tough game, and the boys know what is at stake.”
Meanwhile, second-placed Bibiani Gold Stars will be in action on the same day, away to Berekum Chelsea. A slip-up from Nations and a win for Bibiani could blow the title race wide open heading into the final round.
The final two weekends of the season promise drama, tension, and high emotions, with everything still to play for at both ends of the table.
