Ghana Police Church ushers in New Year

Accra, Jan. 1, GNA – Ghanaian Christians joined their counterparts throughout the world to usher in 2009 with prayers and singing of praises to Jehovah for His bounteous mercies and love towards humanity and all creation.

At the Ghana Police Church, near Licence Office in Accra, where the watch night service took the form of prayers, interspersed with short addresses and singing, the congregation went ecstatic at certain stages.

Summarising the addresses, an Associate Chaplain of the Church, the Very Reverend Dr J.M.Y. Edusa-Eyison urged Christian to continue to have faith in God and to rely on Him in whatever they did during the year.

He said 2009 would be a year of success for all those who relied on God adding that with the discovery of large deposits of oil, Ghana was going to develop.

On the domestic front, he charged Christians to live peaceably with their neighbours and admonished those, who have been beating up their spouses, to stop the practice as the New Year was dawning.
