Ghana Pentecostal Council expresses concern over indiscipline in society

Accra, June 3, GNA – The Ghana Pentecostal Council on Thursday expressed concern about the failure of institutions of state to perform their required task leading to indiscipline in the society. The Council, therefore, called on Metropolitan and District Assemblies to perform their task to prevent acts such as building in waterways, indiscriminate dumping of refuse among other things.

A communiqu=E9 issued by the National Executive Council at the end of its Annual retreat at Peduase also expressed concern about the delay by t he government in restoring Religious and Moral Education as an examinable subject in basic schools and urged the Ministry of Education to ensure th at the issue was addressed without further delay. “Our position is that any nation that plays down on building the mor al fibre of its youth is doomed to fail,” the communiqu=E9 said and added th at the increased immoral scenes on television even during family viewing tim es was wrong.

The Council as a result called on the National Media Commission to monitor and sanction television stations that showed such scenes. The statement also expressed sadness about the trend where some pastors sell anointing oil and blessed water as well as charge members of

the congregation for counseling and cautioned the general public to be wa ry of such charlatans who wear the cloak of Ministers of the gospel.
