Ghana needs an anti-corruption High Court – Cadres Front

The United Cadres’ Front of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling for the establishment of Anti-Corruption Fast Track High Court to handle issues related to corruption.

The group also wants the automation of all revenue collection points and centres at the ports and borders of entry, and reward for people who expose and report corrupt practices.

Nyaku Efanam, General Secretary of the group, in a media briefing in Accra, said the war on corruption needs a concerted effort by all and sundry, adding that corruption affects economic growth and national development.

He noted that it is worrying that some law makers are seen as partisan party players rather than people who are required to make laws to help alleviate problems confronting the country.

Mr. Efanam called on government appointees and functionaries of the state to work hard to reconstruct the fortunes of Ghana.

He urged the National Media Commission and the Ghana Journalists Association to be proactive and check the inflammatory language used on the airwaves, which does not reflect the culture and values of Ghanaians.

Mr. Efanam said the nation is polarized and that the District Assembly system which is aimed at developing local communities devoid of partisanship had been polluted by undue politicization.

He called for a national consensus on issues that bother on the collective survival and growth of the country, and advised the citizenry to use the season of Easter to rekindle the true spirit of patriotism.
