Ghana mourns Robin Cook

Accra, Aug 10, GNA – Ghana on Wednesday sent a message of condolence to United Kingdom on the sudden death of Mr Robin Cook, Member of Parliament for Livingstone, Scotland last Saturday.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Minister of Foreign Affairs who signed the message addressed to the Speaker of the House of Commons, London, said: “We in Ghana always remember Mr Cook for the immense role he played in bringing peace to Sierra Leone during his tenure as British Foreign Secretary.”

The message said: “The people of Ghana, therefore, join me in extending to you, and through you to the Members of the House of Commons, the Government and people of the United Kingdom for this great loss.”

Robin Cook resigned from the Labour Party in protest against the decision of Prime Minister Tony Blair to back US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003.
