Ghana Is Not Ready For Ghanaians Living Abroad To Vote

Dr Stephen Ahiawordor, a lecturer at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, says the call for Ghanaians living abroad to vote is impracticable any time soon.

Dr Ahiawordor highlighted some problems which have affected elections in the country, and said these must be solved before we can even consider the prospects of Ghanaians living outside to vote.

He disagreed with comments that Ghanaians living abroad should be made to pay a certain quota before they vote, since this will amount to taking away their rights.

According to him, a proper database does not exist for Ghanaians outside, and considering the financial commitment involved, the Electoral Commission and the country as a whole, are not prepared for such an exist.
