Ghana International School marks UN day

Over a hundred guests attended the yearly United Nations day at the Ghana International School held on the theme “Peace: Living Together in Harmony.”

The event started off with greetings in different languages from around the world and the children dressed in their national attires.

The audience stood up and sang the national anthem of Ghana and the Ghana International School song.

Mrs Mary Ocansey, Principal of the Junior High School, said she was humbled and proud of the wonderful international community that had gathered.

She expressed the hope for an everlasting relationship between the world’s countries.

Mrs Daniela Rudisuli Sodjah, the Guest of Honour and co-founder of Chance for Children, said the goals of the United Nations were to maintain peace and promote respect for human rights.

“Millions of children are hungry, lonely and need health care. Let’s give them our commitment and stand up for them and empower them,” she said.

“The increase of homeless children due to abuse, peer-pressure and poverty is astonishing,” Mrs Sodjah said, adding that it was the responsibility of society to build a new perspective for them.

There were great dance performances from Ghana, Ethiopia, India, and Spain as well as a fashion show.
