Ghana-India Parliamentary Friendship Ass. to be formed

Accra, April 27, GNA – The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Rajesh N. Prasad on Thursday said there was the need to form Ghana-Indian Parliamentarians Association to enable the two groups to interact and exchange ideas for development.

“I am looking at how we could increase our contacts and establish friendship between the two groups; Mr Prasad said when he paid a courtesy call on Mr Felix Owusu-Adjapong, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, in Accra.

He described Ghana’s Parliament as robust and vigorous and it would be good if interested parliamentarians from both opposition and government came together to start the friendship and worked together. Mr Owusu-Adjapong said within the current Parliament there was Ghana – India caucus, which was non-partisan and members were encouraged to continue to keep contacts with Indian Parliamentarians.

He said a number of Parliamentarians visited Indian on programmes since India had a good history of good governance.

“We have a lot to learn from India as you have a long history of democracy, you also have a lot of knowledge in Information Communication Technology.” He expressed appreciation to the High Commissioner for trying to pave the way to strengthen the Caucus.
