Ghana grateful to China

Accra, Oct. 15, GNA – Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, Minister of the Interior, on Wednesday lauded the Chinese Government for constructing flats at Tesano in Accra to house 48 Police personnel and its assistance to the Ghana Armed Forces.

Mr Owusu-Agyemang, who was speaking when Mr Zhang Keyuan, Chinese Ambassador, called on him in his Office in Accra, said housing the Police and other security agencies had been a major problem that the Government was battling with.

The Minister informed Mr Zhang about the deplorable state of the country’s prisons and appealed to China to lend some support in their rehabilitation.

Mr Zhang said China and Ghana had a common heritage of suffering from poverty and oppression from foreign countries and expressed the preparedness of his country to assist Ghana.

He lauded the quality of job done on the houses for the security agencies, saying that his country would continue to support Ghana.
