Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson says the government has paid GH¢24.8 billion into statutory funds since January 2026, with the money supporting education, healthcare, road maintenance and local development.
He said the payments marked a change from previous arrangements, when statutory funds were affected by delays, capping and outstanding arrears.
“Unlike in the past, when payments were marked by delays, capping and arrears, we now release these funds on time and in full,” Dr Forson said.

His comments came after the release of the third-quarter statutory funds for 2026.
The payments cover the Ghana Education Trust Fund, the Free Senior High School Programme, the District Assemblies Common Fund, the National Health Insurance Fund and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
They also include allocations to the Road Maintenance Trust Fund, the Mineral Development Fund and the Mineral Income Investment Fund.
Dr Forson said the funding was intended to maintain services that affect the daily lives of Ghanaians. It also provides the institutions managing the funds with the resources needed to plan and deliver their programmes.
