Ghana Federation of the Disabled mourns late President Mills

The Federation of the Disabled (GFD), on Thursday expressed its condolence to the wife, family members and Ghanaians, following the demise of President John Evans Atta Mills.

A statement issued by President of GFD, Mr. Joseph Adu Boampong, copied to GNA in Accra on Thursday, said: “the loss hits the GFD and the disability community has lost a selfless and highly dedicated personality, who was particularly concerned about the overall development of persons with disability in the country.”

It recalled the late President’s personal interest in promoting the implementation of the Persons with Disability Act, 2006(Act 715), a legacy which brought into being the National Council on Persons with Disability.

The statement said this act would remain in the hearts of members of the group and appealed for national unity as the nation mourns its departed President. It wished President John Mahama well in these difficult times.**
