Ghana Embassy To Hold Town Hall Meeting

The Embassy of Ghana in Washington DC in collaboration with the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) will on Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 6pm, hold a Town Hall meeting at the chancery auditorium.

The meeting is aimed to highlight the SSNIT student loan scheme, which is an arrangement where students are granted loans through SSNIT on behalf of the Ghana Government to partially fund their tertiary education in Ghana.

The SSNIT student loan program, which was initiated in 1988, has so far benefited about 200,000 students in the county.

A three-member delegation from SSNIT, Mr. Kwasi Boatin, General Manager, Finance, Mr. Asamoa-Mensah, Head, Student Loan Department and Mr. Osei Bimpong, Head, Public Affairs are in the country to brief the Ghanaian Community and the general public about the scheme and to introduce new programs from SSNIT.

In attendance will be officials from the World Bank, US Government, members of the Diplomatic Corps, and SSNIT, among others.

The Ghanaian Community and the general public are cordially invited and also encouraged to attend.
