Ghana Earned 173 million Dollars From Wood Exports

Takoradi, Ghana (PANA) – Ghana realised 173.8 million US dollars from the export of wood products in 1999.

According to a report released by the Forest Products Inspection Division, the amount was earned from the export of 433,125.12 cubic metres of various wood products.

It said the amount represented an increase of 1.6 percent over 170.9 million dollars earned in 1998. The total volume of wood products exported in 1999 represented an increase of 4.2 percent over the 1998 figure of 415,700.751 cubic metres.

The report said the country earned 14.5 million dollars from the export of 36,767.125 cubic metres of wood products in December 1999 alone.

Within the same period in 1998, 14.9 million dollars was realised from 36,475.508 cubic metres of wood products.

The wood products were exported to Germany, Italy, UK, France, Saudi Arabia, US, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Hong Kong, Burkina Faso, Australia and Taiwan.
