Ghanaian centre-back Terry Yegbe is drawing serious interest from four European clubs, with England’s Birmingham City reportedly leading the race to sign the 24-year-old defender from Swedish side IF Elfsborg.
Sources close to the player confirm that Germany’s FC Cologne, and Italian Serie A sides Hellas Verona and Empolin are also keeping close tabs on Yegbe, who has impressed consistently in the Allsvenskan since joining Elfsborg in February 2024.
Yegbe’s stock has risen sharply following a strong debut season in Sweden, where he featured in 22 league matches, scoring three goals and adding an assist, an impressive return for a defender. In the current campaign, he’s already made 16 appearances, contributing one goal and one assist.
With his growing influence at Elfsborg and strong physical presence at the back, the Ghana international appears poised for a move this summer. The Swedish club is believed to be open to letting him go, valuing the player at around €6 million.
Among the suitors, Championship side Birmingham City are reported to be the most advanced in negotiations, seeking defensive reinforcements as they aim for promotion in the 2025/26 season.
Yegbe has also earned recognition at international level, having made his Black Stars debut in November last year during Ghana’s home defeat to Angola at the Accra Sports Stadium.
A move to one of Europe’s top leagues could further boost his international chances as Ghana prepare for major qualifiers and tournaments in the coming months.
