Ghana China Friendship Association signs bilateral agreement

The Ghana China Friendship Association (GHACHIFA) has signed a historic bi-lateral agreement with Fujian Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (FJPAFFC).

FJPAFFC is a statutory body of the Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, both under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

A statement issued by GHACHIFA Communications Office in Accra on Wednesday, copied to Ghana News Agency said the event took place on March 31, in Fuzhou, capital of the Fujian Province, in the presence of senior government officials.

Mr. Danny Mawuenyega, an Executive Committee Member of GHACHIFA and Chair of the Finance Committee, signed on behalf of GHACHIFA witnessed by Mr. Mark Kofi Cobblah, Member of GHACHIFA and Mr Ye Xiaoping, Secretary General of FJPAFFC, and witnessed by Mr. Li Hong, Deputy Director General of Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office.

The agreement seeks to enhance friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two associations through cordial consultations.

In addition, it empowers both associations to serve as a medium for exchanges among the peoples of the two sides and to keep frequent contacts to jointly promote cooperation in the field of economy, trade, culture, public health, education, technology and environmental protection.

The statement said in view of the agreement, both associations would co-operate and collaborate in the arrangement of visits from each side to ensure success of the visits and exchange of information for bilateral cooperation to further the common interests of the two nations.

The bilateral agreement will lead to Sister-City relationship of the Fujian Province with any region of Ghana and a related city in Fujian with another city in Ghana.**
