Ghana Bourse firmer, bank GCB rises again

ACCRA, Aug 23

– The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) index ended higher for the second straight session on Monday, supported by gains in GCB (GCB.GH) and British American Tabacco (BAT.GH), the bourse report showed.

The all-share index gained 5.83 points to 789.29, though it remained 9.10 percent lower on the year. Volume totalled 81,600 shares, worth 212,137 million cedis ($77,705).

GCB, which closed on a high note for the second session in a row, gained 50 to 900, while BAT added 20 to 400.

Against that, pharmaceutical company Paterson Zoch (PZG.GH) was Monday’s only loser as it shed 10 to 830.

Bank SSB (SSB.GH) was the most active stock with 58,200 shares traded. Its share price went unchanged at 2,000.

All other shares were likewise unchanged in price. ($-2,730 cedis)
