Ghana Armed Forces confirm dismissal of 500 recruits

The Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed ultimate1069.com story about the sack of new 500 recruits undergoing training at the Army Recruit Training School at Shai Hills in the Greater Accra region for misconduct.

Ultimate1069.com first broke the story on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, that the recruits were asked to go home on recommendation by an investigative board to unravel the circumstances behind certain conducts involving recruits within their training camp.

After looking into the merit of the case, the board found the recruits guilty on grounds of misbehavior and misconduct which could pass for mutiny within the military circles but for their relatively young stay in training, they were spared.

Though the Military High Command was tight-lipped about the matter when first reached for comments, deep-throat sources confirmed that the recruits had been paid their allowances and told to part ways with the military henceforth.

But in a statement issued and signed Colonel E. Aggrey-Quarshie, Director of Public Relations (PR) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), it states that the recruits’ behaviour are far-reaching and inimical to the security of the State as they without due authorization dressed up in their outing attire (black trousers and white shirt) staged an unauthorized assembly on the School square and later marched to the instructors accommodation to be sent home because the training was strenuous, a situation the recruits considered as maltreatment.

The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to inform the General Public and relatives of recruits undergoing training at the Army Recruits Training School, Shai Hills, that there is cessation of training of the Recruits.

The cessation has become necessary following an incident which took place at the Training School on 3 December 2015. At about 0200 hours on that day, the recruits without due authorization dressed up in their outing attire (black trousers and white shirt) staged an unauthorized assembly on the School square and later marched to the instructors accommodation to be sent home because the training was strenuous, a situation the recruits considered as maltreatment. This was followed by other insubordinate behaviours by the recruits that same day.

The implications of the recruits’ behaviour are far-reaching and inimical to the security of the State.

The Ghana Armed Forces take this opportunity to wish all Ghanaians Merry Christmas and a Prosperous new year.

Signed

E. Aggrey-Quashie

Colonel

Director Public Relations
