Ghana and Kenya relationship is vital link -Kufuor

Accra, March 9, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Tuesday said the historic bond of friendship between Ghana and Kenya fostered vital link between West and East Africa.

“The long-standing relations between the two nations, Ghana and Kenya could not have been a much better link between West and East Africa”, he said.

President Kufuor said this when Mr Chris J. Kirubi, Honorary Consul General of Ghana in Kenya paid a courtesy call on him at the Castle, Osu.

Mr Kirubi accompanied by his staff was in the country during the weekend and participated in the 47th Independence Anniversary celebrations.

President Kufuor expressed appreciation to Mr Kirubi for the visit to enable him to acquaint himself with the customs and traditions of Ghanaian life to facilitate his work as a Consul General.

Mr Kirubi said the visit had accorded the delegation an insight into the attitude and standard of living of Ghanaians and would enhance their dealings with Ghanaian students, businessmen and government officials in Kenya.

He said it also afforded him an opportunity to study the economic environment and how to establish links with Ghanaian entrepreneurs and their counterparts in Kenya.

Mr Kirubi leaves Accra for Nairobi on Wednesday.
