Ghana Airways Apologises For Over Booking Flights

The National Airline, Ghana Airways has apologised to passengers whose travel plans have been disrupted due to over-booking. The image of the airline has been marred by regular interruptions to its flight schedules.

A statement issued by the airline says the over booking and displacement of passengers is because of an abuse of its reservations system. A board sub-committee has been established to investigate the matter. Many of the airline’s passengers have had to spend countless days at the airport before getting a flight to their destinations.

The airline put in place contingency measures including splitting flights to New York and Baltimore to be able to haul as many stranded passengers as possible. Whilst, apologising for the inconveniences created for its patrons, the airline says it is committed to solving the problem, which has been a perennial problem.

The four member committee of directors of the airline set up to address criticisms of customers on the improvement of the airline’s customer service has up to the end of next month to submit its report.

Meanwhile, stranded Lufthansa passengers whose travel plans were disrupted on Sunday due to overbooking say they are hoping for seats on tomorrow’s flight. The airline officials having asked the passengers who it failed to carry on its Sunday flight to report on Wednesday later said it cannot guarantee them seats on the said flight.

The airline officials have so far failed to explain why it left the passengers, except to blurt that over-booking is normal in airline business. Some of the passengers who have expressed serious reservations about Lufthansa’s customer service, say their jobs are on the line, if they are unable to reach their destinations on time.
