The Ghana Air Force has taken delivery of the second of the two CASA 295 transport aircraft in line with government effort to re-equip the Armed Forces.
The first aircraft was delivered last year and was commissioned into service immediately.
The new aircraft was flown in by squadron leaders William Quarcoo, Andrew Sarfo and Nii Adjei Aryeetey and was received on behalf of the Minister of Defence by Air Commodore Philip Ayisa.
He commended the Spanish Company for the timely delivery of the aircraft.
The CASA 295 is a 46 seater capacity aircraft that can take 24 stretchers.
It can also be configured to carry 71 troops for operations and tactical application, special missions and troop rotations.
The plane can similarly be employed for humanitarian and medical evacuations, maritime patrols and logistics support duties.
Earlier, the GAF received three Diamond aircraft which have been deployed to Takoradi Air force Base for Surveillance missions.
