GHAFTRAM commends government

Kumasi, Aug. 23, GNA – The Ashanti Regional Secretariat of the Ghana Federation of Traditional Medicine Practitioners Association (GHAFTRAM) has commended Major Courage Quashigah (rtd), Minister of Health for his immense contributions to the development and practice of traditional medicine in Ghana.

The GHAFTRAM has also welcomed the drafting of a National Strategic Plan for Traditional and Alternative Medicine Development in Ghana for the year 2005-2009, but pleaded that it should not remain on the shelves.

This was contained in a press statement issued by Association in Kumasi on Wednesday and signed by Nana Yaw Kyei, its chairman. The statement, however, suggested that some established facilities offering herbal treatment like the Amen Scientific Herbal Hospital in Kumasi, be accredited for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to actually give an alternative to sick people, who would opt for traditional treatment.
