GHA to maintain trunk roads in UER

Bolgatanga, (UER), Aug. 26, GNA – The Ghana Highways Authority (GHA) in the Upper East Region has been allocated funds as part of its budgetary allocation to maintain urban roads in the region. Mr David Hammond, Regional Director of the GHA who disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said contracts would be given out soon for work to start.

Mr Domingo Lekettey, Municipal Roads Engineer for Urban Roads, said his office had a special programme for roads in the urban areas but the late approval of the sector’s budget had resulted in the delay of implementation.

He expressed worry about the lack of road signs in the municipality and said a programme would soon start to provide all roads with signs to make them easy to identify. 2
