GHA instituting housing scheme for staff – D-G

Koforidua, April 24, GNA – The Ghana Health Service (GHS) is instituting a housing scheme for its staff to enable them own their own houses by the end of their retirement, the Director-General of the Service, Prof. Agyemang Badu-Akosa has announced.

He said the GHS has also instituted a revolving fund from which vehicles could be procured at concessionary rates annually for staff who would pay back in instalments of up to 84 months. These are all measures to motivate staff of the GHS to improve health care delivery in Ghana, according to Prof Badu-Akosa, who was speaking at Koforidua on Friday to end a working tour of the Eastern region. He said model houses would be built in the regional capitals to provide the opportunity for staff members to inspect and give their recommendations before the necessary arrangements are made for their purchase. Prof Akosa said his outfit was working out the modalities of a leave programme that would allow the staff, who are eager go on further studies, do so without jeopardising the health care delivery system. 24 Apr. 04
