He said 2,000 metal bunk beds with mattresses, 3,500 metal tables and chairs and 5,000 dual desks at the cost of GHC3,116,040 were supplied to schools last year saying: “We cannot provide infrastructure without comfortable place for students to sit for learning.”

Alhaji Limuna-Muniru said government would continue to provide the needed infrastructure such as classrooms, tables and chairs to make educational institutions comfortable for teaching and learning.

He indicated that government would continue to provide the needed infrastructure to meet the demands of students.

Alhaji Mohammed Haroon, Regional Director of Education said the provision of the items would go a long way to ensure a comfortable learning environment for students explaining that many students are without beds and mattresses before the arrival of the first consignment.

He said stocks are being taken from heads of schools and directors for efficient distribution of the items to the needed schools.

Alhaji Haroon stated that the directorate has received 1,500 sandals and would soon be distributing them to basic schools.
