GES to take part in National Sanitation Day

Ghana Education Service (GES) and Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development have agreed to collaborate to ensure that schools participate fully in the National Sanitation Day exercise slated for Saturday of every month.

A statement signed by Mr Stephen Adu, Director of Basic Education Division at GES and copied to Ghana News Agency in Accra, said per the agreement, all teachers, student and school heads are entreated to participate in the clean-up exercise within and around their educational facilities to keep the surroundings clean and healthy to promote effective teaching and learning.

“All District, Municipal and Metropolitan Directors of Education are therefore directed to ensure that all schools…participate in the exercise scheduled for the 6th December, 2014 and all other subsequent first Saturdays of each month,” it said.

The statement also urged the Directors of Education to submit regular reports on the National Sanitation Day exercise to the Director General as soon as any event is accomplished.
