The Ghana Education Service has threatened to shutdown unlicensed private schools in the Gomoa West District of the Central region.
The GES took the decision after it was established that many of the private schools in the area do not have the requisite facilities for academic work.
Some of the schools are operating under trees without urinal and toilet facilities.
Heads of some of the private schools have already been summoned by the GES for questioning.
The Director of Education for Gomoa West Peter Bright Amankrah told Starr News the invited school heads will be sanctioned.
“There is an influx of private schools; you go to a place you see a small shed and they harbor so many children there and GNAT and the GES are both not aware.
“We are teaming up. We have given some forms to such schools to refill, we want to close down such schools because they don’t have the facilities to operate,” he said.
