GES Director Appeals to Missions to help in school development

The Rev Canon Timothy Kankam-Dwumfour, Sunyani Municipal Director of Ghana Education Service, has urged the leadership of the Methodist Church of Ghana to assist in developing mission schools.

Rev. Kankam-Dwumfour was speaking at the handing-over of a new pick-up vehicle costing GHC43,000 purchased jointly by Sunyani and Wenchi Dioceses of the Church to the Brong-Ahafo Manager of the Methodist Education Unit in Sunyani.

He said the government was making great efforts to enhance the development of schools and it was imperative for the church to contribute its quota to complement such efforts.

The Municipal Director said means of transportation was important for effective administration of every institution and the provision of the vehicle would enable the Regional Manager to help improve the performance of the Unit.

“Effective monitoring and supervision at our educational institutions especially in public schools will help improve the performance of students in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) level”, he stated.

The Right Reverend Kofi Asare Bediako, Bishop of the Sunyani Diocese of the Church who presented the vehicle on behalf of the two dioceses, expressed the hope that the Regional Manager would ensure the regular supervision of schools.

The Very Reverend Philip Obeng-Adjei, regional manager, thanked the Bishop and the two dioceses and gave the assurance the vehicle would be used to meet the expectations of the Church.
