GES Administration to be decentralised

Bolgatanga Aug. 23, GNA – A Ghana Education Council Committee is working on the down-sizing of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Headquarters in anticipation of further decentralization of administration to the district level.

Mr Paul Osei- Mensah, Member of GES Council disclosed this in the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Special Bulletin of August 1. Mr Osei- Mensah, said it was expected that within the next two years, GES would be fully decentralized to become part of the district and the Metropolitan Assemblies. He said there might not be more than five divisions in addition to the Director-General and the two Deputy Directors General at headquarters.

He advised GNAT to adjust itself for the decentralization so as to continue to play a central role in the educational system.
