German Embassy pledges to support KNUST

Kumasi, Oct. 27, GNA – The German Embassy in Ghana has assured the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) of continued support towards the implementation of the University’s academic and business oriented projects. Dr Marius Haris, German Ambassador, said he would do everything he could to raise the present level of co-operation between the University and his country to new heights.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Kwafo Adarkwah, told the Ghana News Agency that the pledge was as a result of a delegation he led to pay a courtesy call on the Ambassador.

Dr Haris and Mr Hans Christian Winkler, Deputy Head of Mission, recommended to the University to link up with the Ghana German Economic Association (GGEA) to benefit from staff and student exchange programmes. It could also receive assistance to establish a business development office, Centre for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and promotion of printing and publishing.

The Ambassador said he was impressed by the significant contribution the KNUST was making to the nation’s progress. Professor Adarkwah welcomed the German’s promise to sustain its cooperation and good collaboration with the University. Strengthening the bond of friendship would pave way for increased sharing of experiences between students and lecturers in the two countries, he added. 27 Oct. 09
