GCNet donates to Ghana Heart Foundation

Accra, April 10, GNA The Ghana Community Network Services Limited (GCNet) on Thursday donated GH¢10,000 to the Ghana Heart Foundation (GHF) at the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. GCNet has over a four-year period contributed a total of GH¢35,000 to the operations of the GHF and the Cardio Centre.

Mr Nortey Omaboe, Executive Chairman of GCNet, who made the presentation, said GCNet had a corporate responsibility to support some activities within the communities where they operated to meet the needs of society and reach out to the vulnerable. He was hopeful that the donation, apart from supporting the operations of the Cardio Centre, would enable the centre to maintain its status as a Centre of Excellence.

Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, President of the Foundation, who received the donation, expressed gratitude for the gesture, saying such donations went to further the cause of the Centre. He advised the public to refrain from unhealthy habits like alcoholism and smoking, which had trebled the number of cases reported at the centre.
