GCAA hold workshop for Select C’ttee on Transport

Akosombo, Sept 4, GNA – The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) over the weekend organised a capacity building workshop for members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Road and Transport at Akosombo. The workshop, which took the form of Departmental briefing, was to educate the Members of the Committee on the operations of the GCAA as well as the Global Aviation Authority.

Addressing the participants, Mr Nii Adumansa-badoo, Director General of GCAA, started that the aviation industry had started picking up following the downward trend that characterised the period after the September 11 terrorist attack in the United States. He said GCAA had stepped up security check at the Kotoka International Airport to get rid off undesirables popularly called “golo boys” as well as to make it difficult for drug couriers to use the airport as a transit point.

The participant were also briefed on the National Aviation Sector policy and stressed that the development of the Airport as the gateway to the sub-region was still on course.

The leader of the Committee, Mr Samuel K Obodai, expressed appreciation to the GCAA that the workshop had helped them to appreciate and understand the aviation industry in the country.
