Gbi-Kpeme honours rocket scientist

Hohoe, June 1, GNA – The chiefs and people of Gbi-Kpeme Traditional Area last Friday held a durbar to honour Dr Ave K. P. Kludze, Jr, a rocket scientist of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The occasion also coincided with a documentary being made on him by the Cable News Network (CNN).

Togbe Worde IV, Chief of Kpeme, said with dedication, commitment and tenacity of purpose “what we aspire for would be achieved and sometimes our places of births do not really count.” He said the feat achieved by Dr kludze should be a pointer to parents and inspire the youth that education is the bedrock for growth and advancement.

Dr Kludze announced plans to institute an Education Endowment Fund for underprivileged pupils and students of promise and leadership qualities.

He said an interest-free loan scheme would run side-by-side the scholarship scheme to assist families and members of the community and envisaged September as a start-up time.
