Gbese Traditional Area attends to sanitation needs

Accra, Oct. 18, GNA – The Chiefs and people of Otuopai in Accra on Saturday undertook a clean-up, as a prelude to the 5th anniversary of the enstoolment of sub-chiefs and queen mothers in the area, which falls on the November 22.

Nii Tetteh Tsuru II, Otoupai Mantse and Mankralo of the Gbese Traditional Area, said maintaining a clean environment should be a regular feature in communities.

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness and every community has to ensure that its people have health and fitness,” he said, adding that, the exercise would be extended to other areas under his jurisdiction. Nii Tetteh Tsuru mentioned that the Otuopai Traditional Council would institute an Education Committee to encourage school enrolment in the community.

He intimated that an Education Fund would soon be instituted for the community to assist brilliant but needy children to attend school. “All citizens of Otuopai need to benefit from education,” he held. The chief spoke of plans aimed at educating drug peddlers on the effect of narcotics on their health and HIV/AIDS.

“It is better to educate and advise them to stop the illicit trade, rather than jail them only for them to come back and commit the same offence.
