GBC workers in Ashanti support national executive

Kumasi, Nov. 16, GNA – Workers of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) in Ashanti have expressed solidarity with the executive of their national union for their stand to have Miss Eva Lokko, the Director-General probed.

In a solidarity message issued in Kumasi on Wednesday, the workers described as unfortunate, the decision of their embattled Director-General not to accept the order of the National Media Commission (NMC) and the GBC Board to take her accumulated leave and give way for investigations to be carried out on allegations of malfeasance under her administration.

The workers recalled that in October 2002, the then Ashanti Regional Director of GBC, Miss Rosina Amaning was asked by Miss Lokko to hand over her administration to Mr Godwin Avernogbor and proceed on leave to give way for an investigation of malfeasance leveled against her, to be carried out.

Miss Amaning, the workers said, stayed away and never returned to the office again till her retirement, although the committee that probed her administration exonerated her.

The workers, therefore, wondered why Miss Lokko could not do the same to allow justice to take its cause.
