GATTA, World Bank sign MOU

Accra, July 1, GNA – The Ghana Association of Travel and Tourism Agents (GATTA) and the World Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a media partner to promote the photography competition launched earlier this year.

The media partners, Joy FM would provide the programme with airtime and a page on their website for promotional purposes.

Mr Kenneth Otchere, chairman of the project who spoke to the Ghana News Agency said the agreement gives Joy FM the right as the official radio station for the promotion of the photography competition and other events associated with the competition.

The photography competition is part of “Golden Face of Ghana” project aimed at promoting safe and responsible international and domestic tourism.

He said the national photo bank would give people access to the use of pictures on Ghana on various websites, magazines and for other decent purposes.

“Pictures sometimes speak louder than words and the exhibition and use of pictures on Ghana would also help promote the country abroad,” he said.

The photo competition and exhibition would showcase time honoured rich and diversified living cultures, scenic and captivating elements of the natural environment and cultural landscapes, socio-economic achievements as a developing economy and smiling faces and warmth of the Ghanaian.

Other areas to be displayed include Ghana’s historic relics of the early trade relations with Europe, colonization and attainment of political independence, leisure, sports and recreation. Qualified participants for the photo competition and exhibition comprise freelance professionals and amateur photographers, photo journalists, expatriates, tourists, students and people with passion for past time photography.

Mr Otchere commended the World Bank for sponsoring the competition and the publication of a photo book for Ghana to be presented to the nation on the 50th Independence Anniversary. He urged all interested in the event to enter their photos and support the establishment of the national photo bank.
