Gas station explodes at La claims 7 lives, leaves several injured

A deadly gas station explosion near the Trade Fair Centre at La in Accra has claimed the lives of about seven civilians with a dozen severely injured, initial checks by GHOne TV indicate.

It is however unknown, what sparked the explosion which occurred around 6pm Thursday evening.

The station identified as ‘Louis Gas’ is precisely located between the Labadi Cemetery and the Trade Fair Centre.

Eyewitnesses tell GHOne TV that blazes from the explosion has also extended to the Trade Fair venue.

Speaking to GHOne TV, Member of Parliament-elect for La Dade Kotopon in whose constituency the explosion occurred, Vincent Odotei Sowah said from preliminary accounts given him by the head of fire fighters working at the scene, “it looks like we have a big disaster on our hands.”
