Gas cylinder in Parliament causes havoc

The first deputy speaker of parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu on Friday November 24, 2017 ordered the removal of a gas cylinder from the chamber describing it as ‘’offensive weapon ‘’ which puts legislators lives at risk.

The gas cylinder was brought to parliament by the member of parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem George Mireku Duker, to buttress his point on Gas cylinder recirculation model which is the right direction to prevent an explosion.

But the minority insisted that it is not safe and hence put the legislators life’s at risk with the gas cylinder in their midst.

Deputy Minority leader, James Klutse Avedzi, who drew the attention of the First Deputy Speaker to the presence of the cylinder, said the cylinder was a threat to them and should be removed.

Even though the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu disagreed, Mr Osei-Owusu who presided over proceedings ruled that it was an offensive weapon and ordered the Marshall to remove the cylinder from the chamber.
