Tema, Feb 01, GNA – A 29-year old gardener at Batsona near Sakumono who took advantage of his acquaintance with a house help in the same vicinity where he worked and defiled her has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in hard labour by a Tema Circuit Court ‘B’.
Michael Ofori pleaded guilty to defilement and was convicted on his own plea.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Ben Agbedanu told the court that Ofori went to the victim on January 26 and gave her his bag to keep it for him.
The accused returned after 10 minutes, pulled her to one of the bedrooms and forcibly had sex with her whiles the victim shouted for help.
Ofori danger jumped the wall of the house in an attempt to escape but got injured in the process.
He was taken to the Sakumono Community Hospital for treatment but the nurses informed the Sakumono Police who arrested him.
