GAF to train with US Navy and Marine corps

Accra, March 9, GNA – The Ghana Armed Forces on Tuesday advised the public to cooperate with the forces should they encounter them within specified areas between March 9 and 31, since they will conduct joint training with the United States Navy and the Marine corps.

The training forms part of the African Partnership Station 2010 training programme, an international security cooperation initiative conducted by the US Navy and the Ghana Naval Base.

A statement by the Public Relations Directorate of the Ghana Armed Forces said the training aimed at strengthening global maritime security and land partnership to improve safety and security in Africa. “The main training will start on March 13 and end on March 30, 2010. The directorate informs the general public that there will be troop and logistic movements particularly on the high seas”.
