GAF conducts routine exercises

Accra, June 30 GNA – The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF)has started an exercise code-name “Exercise Tigers Path 2009” to improve the skills of its personnel.

The four-day tri-service counter insurgency and jungle warfare exercise would be held at Akim Achiase and surrounding areas. A statement in Accra, signed by Colonel E.W.K. Nibo, Director of Public Relations of the GAF said the exercise, which formed part of the routine training activities for the year involved units from Army commands and formations, the Navy and the Air Force.

The statement said in view of the exercise there would be major movement of troops around Akim Achiase, Oda and its environs and assured residents and the populace not to panic as the exercise was routine. It said personnel from the Ghana Police Service were taking part in the exercise for the first time, while the Burkina Faso Armed Forces had also sent a four-man team as observers.
