Achiase(E/R), March 17, GNA – The Africa Partnership Station (APS) 2011 jungle exercise, conducted by personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the United States Marines, has ended at Achiase Jungle Warfare in the Eastern Region.
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lt General Peter Augustine Blay who addressed the ceremony, said it would help integrate the two armies, facilitate world peace and curb terrorism. The two-week training exer cise comprised 100 troops from GAF and 42 US Marines.
The Commanding Officer of the Jungle Warfare School, Lt Col Peter Nicholas Andoh, said the troops were taken through Marshal Arts, Leadership Skills, First Aid, Obstacle Crossing, Introduction to Jungle and Range Classification.
Lt Col Kirk Coke, US Marines Task Force Commander, presented a plague to the CDS to climax the end of the APS. He expressed his appreciation to the troops for what he described as 93an excellent performance”, which would go a long way to enhance peacekeeping, disaster and humanitarian programmes in the near future. Rear Admiral Mohammed Muniru Tahiru, the Commandant of the Military Academy and Training School, inaugurated an engineering workshop valued at A248,000 for the Jungle Warfare School.
