GACL apologises to passengers

Accra, July 10, GNA – The Management of the Ghana Airports Company Limited has apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) due to a breakdown in the baggage belt on July 5 and 6, 2008. A release issued by the company said two of the three baggage carousels in the arrival hall went out of order over the weekend, resulting in delays in baggage handling.

The incident took place despite the fact that regular maintenance was carried out on them in line with the company’s maintenance policy. It said two of the baggage belts were now operational and that all the three belts would soon be completely overhauled. “Parts required for this have already been ordered,” the release said.

“Management deeply regrets the inconvenience caused by the breakdown of the carousel and wishes to assure the public of its commitment to resolve these difficulties in a timely manner, in order to ensure smooth, safe and secure operations at the KIA,” the release said.
